Umanesimo matematico nell’era informatica

Umanesimo matematico. Problemi dell’insegnamento nell’era informatica con particolare riguardo alla matematica

Biagio Scognamiglio

Abstract

This essay is divided into pairs of paragraphs. The first paragraph of each pair contains information and reflections on the relationship between school subjects and  virtual reality. The second paragraph of each pair  is dedicated to the teaching and learning processes of  mathematics through the aid of computerized means with particular regard to internet browsing in everyday practice. However, a warning is necessary. The speech that takes place here does not take into account those lacerations of the social fabric produced by the phenomena of juvenile delinquency with their repercussions even in the daily school life. The pedagogical emergency represented by the mixture of violence and cowardice in juvenile delinquency obviously requires a separate discussion, also because families themselves often threaten teachers’ authority and even politics calls into question the freedom of teaching.  However, while the search for remedies for manifestations of social pathology awaits its necessary response, it is the duty of educators to work with ever greater vigor to consolidate cultural reception for the benefit of the majority of ethically oriented students, even if they are “digital natives”. It should also be noted that, while the cultural reception in our computer age must naturally take place starting from the kindergarten, the following reflections refer mainly to the adolescent groups of secondary school study paths. In any case, it is hoped that this will provide useful insights also for the previous school grades.
